Update March 18, 2020

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10)

This is a great promise from our great God! As we live in the midst of fearful and uncertain times, we are not to live in fear. God reminds us clearly that He is with us. With the ongoing spread of the coronavirus and the speed in which decisions are being made on a daily basis, we are continually evaluating how we as a Church can fulfill our purpose in a time such as this.

After much prayer and consultation we have decided to take the following actions:

-Services: All on-campus ministries are CLOSED effective immediately until further notice (we prayerfully anticipate reopening after the 30-day mandated closure). We anticipate starting online worship services next week.

-Food Pantry: We are working to continue Food Pantry services (every Tue & last Wed of the month)

-Updates will be posted on First Baptist Church Las Vegas Facebook, Instagram and www.fbclv.org. Or you can call 702-821-1234 (Church Office) for a recorded message.

These decisions were based on the following announcements:

-Nevada Gov. Sisolak declared a “state of emergency” and issued a mandate that all schools be closed, and he requested all “faith leaders” to cancel group gatherings.

-The CDC issued a statement “strongly recommending” canceling any gatherings or events in excess of 50 people.

-President Trump issued a statement on Monday saying that there should be no more than 10 people at a single gathering.

-Yesterday evening Nevada Governor Sisolak directed all non-essential businesses to close at noon on Wed, March 18th.

Please know we are a family. We are the body of Christ. When one part suffers, we all suffer. When one part rejoices, we all rejoice. Our desire is to be here for you and walk with you in these uncertain times. We may not know what the future holds, but we do know who holds the future. We serve a great and mighty God who is sovereign and in complete control of all things. May God bless you richly as you continue to trust Him in these uncertain times.

With Blessed Assurance,

Pastor Bruce
